Ashley Clark is a science writer, researcher, and tea practitioner, with curiosity and care for both human and non-human communities: from plants, to glaciers, to the ocean.

She was a 2025 Knauss Marine Policy Fellow and was assigned to work at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office for International Research Activities for the year. Here, she led communications for international science collaborations and supported international science collaborations. She has worked with NASA, researching coastal water quality in Hawaiʻi and conducted studies on sea level rise impacts and coastal erosion as a graduate student at the University of Hawaiʻi.

Her first interest in science storytelling was actually through tea production, where she wove together cultural ecology, entomology, and food science together through her research on Oriental Beauty Tea in Taiwan. This work culminated in a research thesis and a Master of Arts in Geography.

Ashley is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
